Welcome! I’m Teresa, the hen in a farmhouse nest. I was born in Canada and am now a US Citizen. I inhabit a wonky farmhouse with my husband, Brian, our dogs and parrots and a miniature pig. We also care for alpacas, ducks, chickens, a pair of geese, rabbits, goats, and a couple of barn cats.
Jane Austin once wrote, “There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort”. I have to agree. While I often daydream of visiting far off places, my heart longs to be at home. Whether I’m inside or outside, I can find plenty to keep me busy and content. I enjoy the French country decorating style, renovating (as time and budget allow), gardening, reading, creating, and blogging.
I hope to inspire you with simple farm living as we renovate and decorate our wonky farmhouse.

Let me start by saying HAPPY NEW YEAR! The holidays were very quiet for us as most of our family is in Canada. We celebrated Christmas day with a delicious ham that Brian made along with all the fixings. We … Continue reading →
The other day I was hanging out at one of my favorite “soul renewal” places, Barnes and Noble, where I picked up Somerset Home magazine. What caught my eye (besides the beautiful cover) was a feature on Annie Sloan’s new … Continue reading →
I was going to continue this wonky old farmhouse makeover by painting the living room, but decided that since my kitchen is part way there, I might as well get on with it. A good friend of mine, while visiting … Continue reading →
I’ve never had a problem decorating in all the years I’ve owned a own home. I’ve always had a vision. But this house is a conundrum. It isn’t speaking to me. It doesn’t know what it wants to be. That’s … Continue reading →
I can’t believe how time flies! We’ve been on the farm almost three years. It feels like yesterday. Since the move we’ve adopted alpacas, a livestock guardian dog named Loki, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, cats, and another dog, a Pomeranian … Continue reading →
